June – 2019

According to Zen Magazine the relationship between fitness and martial arts is a long-standing one. Personal fitness, from weight management to core strength, is often viewed as an underlying benefit of many martial arts programs. As the two industries evolve, they seem to get closer and closer to one another. More specifically, many students and school owners are discovering a new common reason for inquiry – to get in shape. In fact, according to IBISWorld (2018), “73% of people who practice martial arts or attend classes at a studio do so for physical fitness.” We all know the first rule is that the best way to win a fight is to run away, right in most cases. However, when things go sideways, it’s a great idea to be prepared. Study a martial art. There is no such thing as a “fair fight”. There is no time like today to begin, rather it’s as a new student or a former student. Start today. Lastly, on this subject, get in shape and I believe the best way to do that is walk through the front door. If you have your kids in Karate then you should join, why not? It’ll be great as a family event you can all share and you’ll get healthy. Sounds good to me. I hope to see you all soon.

This month, June, is the start of a very busy summer. On June 15th we are having a belt test. The Brooks sisters are testing for Black belts, Kyra Baker is testing for 3rd Brown and Adrianne Adkins is testing for Purple. An all ladies test and it’s gonna be a good one. Also, we have the privilege of hosting a Seminar with Master Eddie Downey on Tuesday, June 25th from 6-8pm. We are looking forward to it!

In July, of course we have our Fundraiser for the TNT Fireworks on the corner of Fifth and Euclid in Santa Ana, CA, from July 1st through the 4th. Following this, on July 13th is our Kellogg’s Kenpo Kids Fundraiser. We have several special celebrity guests with more to come including, Sheree Wilson (Walker, Texas Ranger), Vince Morella (Movie Producer), Kathy Garver (Family Affair), Tim Russ (Star Trek Voyager), Kathleen Kinmont (Renegade), Christopher Knight (Peter Brady, Brady Bunch) Slade Smiley (Real Housewives of OC) and more adding on weekly. This event is a Fundraiser. If you are unable to make it, you may still donate online @ kelloggskarate.com in the donate section. More information can be seen on our website @ kelloggkarate.com or our Facebook page @ Facebook.com/kelloggskarate. Finally, on July 27th , Ken Kellogg is being inducted into the Master’s Hall of Fame.

We are also beginning a new “Review My Basics Program” in August. More information will follow.

Congratulations to all our Grads this school year!
