Studio Opening June 15th

We are looking forward to opening our studio back up on Monday, June 15th. Our first class will begin at 4:00PM. You may make your monthly tuition payment that day, since it falls directly on the 15th and we’d like all payments to stay around that date, so we can keep track of them.

We have some rules from the state that we need to adhere to in order for our studio to open back up.

  1. There will be a sign-in sheet at the door. Every student will have to be signed in and have their temperature scanned at the door.
  2. There is a Waiver/Release COVID-19 form that every student must have completed, per the state.
  3. Students may wear masks if the parents prefer, but it is not required.
  4. Parents will not be able to sit inside the studio due to the max capacity requirement that is currently in place by the state, but we will have seats set up right outside the roll-up doors that will remain open, for parents’ viewing.
  5. There is a six feet distance requirement put in place by the state, we do have to adhere to that as best as possible. We are not supposed to have any physical contact, so we will do our best to teach the techniques and katas, while doing our best to adhere to these new guidelines.
  6. Finally, the max capacity for a class is 9 students. If you should show up and the class is full, you may attend the following class, they will not allow us to exceed the max per class.

We will have to follow these rules until the state gives us permission to do otherwise. Thank you so much for your cooperation. We appreciate every one of you and look forward to joining you back in the dojo!

COVID-19 | CORONAVIRUS

It is amazing what is happening in our world today. This virus has us all a bit edgy. We are doing everything we can to keep our school safe and active.

These are trying times. We will keep the school open as long as possible. Please understand, if you are sick stay home, it’s okay. However, we also ask that you please don’t stop paying dues where possible because we still have to pay our bills to keep the studio open and running so if you take time off there’s something to come back to.

We have had a few families take a break, unfortunately this does hurt us economically. So with all this uncertainty, if you can find it on your heart to help our studio with a little extra during this time it would be greatly appreciated. http://kelloggskarate.com/donate/

Thanks as always for your support,

Ken Kellogg

March 2020 | NEWSLETTER

We have another great month planned for all our students.

On Monday, March 16th @ 6:00PM, Mr. Eddie Downey will be teaching another seminar at our studio. He always adds so much to our Kenpo knowledge. The investment is $35 ($5 from each payment will be donated to Royal Family Kids Camp).

Eddie Downey began his Kenpo career in Dublin’s famous Fitzwilliam Street Kenpo Academy under the late Professor John Conway and later with Professor Maurice Mahon in Baggot Street, Dublin. During his Kenpo studies, Master Downey became a close personal friend of the later pioneer of Kenpo, Grandmaster Ed Parker, having known him since 1974.

Master Downey was the principal organizer of Ed Parker’s numerous visits to Ireland and in 1981 after testing for his 1st Degree Black Belt, Master Downey began training directly under the supervision of Grandmaster Ed Parker. He subsequently achieved his 2nd Degree Black Belt from Grandmaster Parker in 1985 and his 3rd Degree Black Belt in 1988. Grandmaster Parker then appointed Master Downey as a representative for his association in Ireland.

During the 1970s, Master Downey had a very successful tournament career in Ireland, taking first place in the all-Ireland Kenpo Karate Championships. Master Downey was a regular member of the Irish National Team for many years and represented his country at European and World Championships. He also competed and officiated at Ed Parker’s Long Beach International Karate Championships for fifteen years. Master Downey is one of the world’s leading experts in the Advanced Kenpo Karate System and over the past forty-five years has established an international reputation for his teaching skills and Kenpo Self-Defense proficiency.

Master Downey has instructed Kenpo in the following countries: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Chile, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Jersey, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United States. Master Downey has united Kenpo students in Europe under the European Kenpo Karate Association (EKKA) and travels extensively throughout Europe teaching and developing the Kenpo system.

Master Downey is the international director of the Advanced Kenpo Training System (AKTS) and works closely with Master John Sepulveda to promote the association.

When he is in the U.S., Mr. Downey visits only a few schools and we are honored to be chosen as one of those schools he will be teaching at.

Bob & Barbara White Charitable Foundation will be having a complete weekend dedicated to raising funds for the Royal Family Kids Camp. This will take place, March 21st & 22nd. We have the privilege of supporting this wonderful cause.

More information will be coming soon about a demo team we are putting together for a special appearance in April. Please stay tuned as this will be fun!

January 2020 | NEWSLETTER

This year we have some really exciting things coming up. We are blessed to have Mr. Eddie Downey coming to our studio in March. We will announce the exact date soon. We are working closely with retired Captain Ron Sanchez to put together a regular night for him to teach here, details coming soon. We are also working out details to have Mr. Bob White teach at the studio, to really help us all improve our Kenpo skills. I have had several requests to also have Mrs. Barbara White back again, so hopefully we can work that out. You really don’t want to miss these.

Our studio expansion is nearing completion. A very special thanks to all who have worked to make it possible. We have several events in the planning stages and will announce them as they are cemented in. We are looking forward to an exciting 2020. Our prayer is that you will be a part of this new exciting journey.

God bless you all and see you soon!
