Hello Karate Family and Friends!
Let’s start with spreading the word about Karate. Why should I recommend it to people? Here are the seven top reasons….
Self-Defense
The most obvious reason why you should learn Karate is that it teaches you how to defend yourself. History continues to prove that violence in the world is undeniable, occurs unexpectedly and disregards its victims. While violence affects all of us, it is critical to be prepared for it. How? Discover and master the skills of fighting. Not only do you grasp specific techniques, but you develop strength and stamina needed to endure a physical altercation.
Confidence
Your capacity to handle yourself physically builds self-confidence and poise as you walk taller with your head higher. Self-assurance, calm and vigilance will friend you. Warning! Improvement in your mental attitude might surprise you after a full session of sparring at the dojo. You boost endurance, skill and strength with your ability to apply real self-defense techniques.
Focus and Awareness
In training, you must be wise about your actions and the people around you. Becoming more cognizant of your environment will serve to keep you and your family safe out in the world. As a bonus, this broadened awareness will aid to navigate you through life in areas like school, work, relationships, etc.
Friends
To say you will make friends in Martial Arts is an understatement. Your teacher and fellow students become family and your instructor is more than a teacher–he/she becomes a confidant, parent and counsellor. Your friends at the dojo are part of your social circle as they walk with you through thick and thin. These are the folks you want in your corner.
Reduce Stress
There’s no shortage of bad ways to decrease stress and many of us have tried them all. Karate offers a positive way to alleviate stress when your energy is directed physically that is beneficial. No doubt that hitting a punching bag is a great way to release pent up tension.
Health
Karate is a complete workout that builds balance, coordination, flexibility, strength and stamina. As your blood circulation improves, you will breathe better and feel better overall. Kenpo is a fun way to stay in shape.
Character
In the dojo you learn respect, discipline, and how to be humble and cooperate with others. This is all part of perfecting your art. You work with your partners and learn from your instructor in a setting where bowing and handshakes are commonplace and serving each other is the norm. Focus and acceptance of correction are musts. You use criticism to improve yourself. The Karate school is an ideal environment for learning perseverance and excellence. Many martial artists call their training a way of life as it permeates a person’s life and creates solid relationships as well as a sense of justice and respect.
